The International Journal of Psycho-Social Educational Research (UPSEAD) has adopted a set of ethical policies to ensure that the production and publication of knowledge take place within a framework based on ethical principles, impartiality, and respect. In this regard, all stakeholders (authors, editors, reviewers, readers, and publishers) are expected to adhere to standards of ethical conduct.
The ethical duties and responsibilities outlined by UPSEAD are based on the open-access guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Stakeholders may consult the COPE guidelines for further clarification on the principles stated in this document.
General Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for all publications in the journal. Accordingly, they:
Oversee processes that enhance publication quality,
Ensure compliance with copyright and ethical standards,
Support the development of the journal both nationally and internationally,
Strive to meet the information needs of readers and authors,
Uphold academic freedom,
Prioritize transparency in publication processes,
Keep up with recent developments in publication ethics and implement necessary updates.
Relations with Readers
Respond to opinions and feedback,
Ensure that published works are original and contribute to the field,
Consider readers’ interests, expectations, and needs when making publication decisions.
Relations with Authors
Provide authors with clear information on publication procedures and ethical policies,
Publish author guidelines and writing rules,
Conduct a preliminary evaluation of manuscripts within the journal’s scope,
Make decisions based on the scientific value, originality, and contribution of submissions,
Offer clear and informative feedback,
Ensure a fair and effective double-blind peer review process,
Prevent conflicts of interest between authors and reviewers,
Protect the confidentiality of authors’ personal data,
Initiate a new review process if necessary in cases of appeal.
Authors’ Rights
May identify reviewers who should not evaluate their work due to conflicts of interest,
May withdraw their manuscript during the review process,
May appeal reviewer and editor decisions,
May request correction of material errors during the publication process.
Relations with Reviewers
Assign reviewers with appropriate expertise,
Provide guidance regarding the review process,
Ensure evaluations are impartial, scientific, and constructive,
Maintain reviewer confidentiality,
Keep the reviewer database updated.
Relations with the Editorial Board
Hold regular meetings to develop editorial policies,
Take feedback from board members into consideration,
Ensure impartiality in the selection of board members,
Collaborate with the board in editorial decisions.
Independence from the Publisher
Editors make independent decisions, free from publisher influence.
Academic Integrity and Intellectual Property
Ensure academic integrity in all publications,
Protect intellectual property rights and notify the publisher in cases of violation,
Respond constructively to criticism.
Ethics Committee Approval and Human/Animal Rights
For studies requiring ethics committee approval, detailed information (committee name, date, approval number) must be included both in the methodology section and at the beginning or end of the article.
Combatting Unethical Behavior
Manuscripts involving data fabrication, source manipulation, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or lack of transparency in author contributions will be rejected.
Manuscripts should not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.
Submissions must be original and unpublished.
All sources must be properly and completely cited.
Potential conflicts of interest must be clearly declared.
Authors must notify the editor promptly if they detect an error in their manuscript.
Individuals who did not contribute to the work should not be listed as authors.
Author order cannot be changed after the peer-review process begins.
Raw data may be requested by the editorial board when necessary.
For studies requiring ethical approval, ethics approval documents and statements must be included in the article and uploaded to the system.
For case reports, voluntary participation and informed consent must be stated.
Ethical approval is not required for review articles, but it should be noted that it is not necessary.
Use of copyrighted materials (images, scales, etc.) must be properly authorized.
International ethical standards must be followed in studies involving humans or animals.
Should only review manuscripts within their area of expertise.
Must evaluate manuscripts based solely on scientific content, without bias related to gender, race, religion, or political views.
Must decline to review if a conflict of interest is present.
Must uphold principles of impartiality and confidentiality.
Must report any suspicion of duplicate submission or plagiarism.
Should write objective, constructive, and respectful review reports.
Should avoid personal criticism or offensive language.
Must destroy any information regarding the manuscript after review.
Should complete reviews in a timely manner.
Editorial decisions rest solely with the editors.
The publisher must protect and archive the copyright of each article.
Must take precautions against academic misconduct and plagiarism.
Must ensure open access to all content via the UPSEAD website.

All articles are protected under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This license allows content to be shared with proper citation, but it may not be used for commercial purposes or modified.
All submissions to UPSEAD are subject to plagiarism screening.
Plagiarism is considered unethical and is unacceptable.
The total similarity index must be below 20%, and no more than 3% from any single source.
Authors may be asked to provide explanations even for similarities above 1%.
Plagiarism checks are conducted using tools such as iThenticate©, Turnitin©, and intihal.net©.
Editors reserve the right to request revisions or reject manuscripts when necessary.
